Cascina Moncrava

Cascina Moncrava

Our roots

Within these 18th-century walls, discover the soul of Cascina Moncrava: an authentic story of land and family, spanning five generations.

A story five generations long

The Origins

Deep roots in the hillside

The history of Cascina Moncrava and the Fresc family is deeply rooted in the Moncrava hill—a place once isolated and strictly tied to the cultivation of the land. The farmhouse has been in our family since 1927, and over time, the building has evolved alongside the needs and seasons of rural life.

Originally a working farm organized between the main residence and the stables, the Cascina underwent a transformation that, about 15 years ago, led it to embrace its current calling as a guesthouse. This journey of change and continuity has consolidated a style of hospitality based on care, tradition, and family warmth: values that still guide the Cascina today and define its identity.

The Renovation

The slow pace of craftsmanship

The renovation that brought the Cascina back to its current beauty was a decade-long labor of love. We carried it out entirely ourselves, in a sort of “community of good work” among friends, with the care and attention of true craftsmanship. We didn’t follow trends; instead, we respected history, ensuring an authentic comfort that feels like home.

The Silent Strength

La forza silenziosa

If our roots run deep, it is thanks to the strength and vision of the women in our family. From the tenacity of Great-grandmother Angelica to the wisdom of Grandmother Rosanna, who still tends to the vegetable garden today; from the creative touch of Mother Antonella to the energy of Marta and Medea, who ensure the continuity of this tradition today: they are the beating heart of Cascina Moncrava.

Throughout this journey, Massimo—father to Marta and Medea—has been a central figure, consistently upholding our family’s values and ideals and passing them down to the younger generations with dedication. This path of growth has also been supported by Uncle Umberto, who has always worked alongside us on the masonry and restoration projects, and by Giovanni, who meticulously watches over the beauty of the vegetable garden and our green spaces.

Together, since 1747, we have protected the identity of this historic home, where history is not a distant tale but an authentic experience of hospitality that continues to renew itself, one step at a time.
